Hotel Review: Radisson Blu Sohar, Oman

There is nothing in Sohar, Oman - literally nothing. But let me tell you why that doesn't matter.

I'll be honest, I have no idea why Radisson decided to build a hotel in Sohar, Oman but I'm glad they did because we just had one of our most relaxing, healthy and productive weekends of the year there.

Listen, when you live in Dubai you are always dreaming of your next escape. And this doesn't necessarily have anything to do with wanting to get out of Dubai but more about all of the amazing countries and cities which are so close by compared to anywhere else in the world.

So when we heard that the new Radisson Blu Sohar had opened up we immediately planned a weekend escape. We rented a little car from the airport on a Thursday night. After finding the right boarder the enter Oman and a quick visa process we arrived around 11pm.

When I say there is nothing in Sohar, Oman I really mean it. The "city" is centered around an industrial port area and doesn't offer much else. The road to the hotel, across a huge dirt field, wasn't even paved. We could see the amazing hotel from far off, but couldn't believe we had to off road to get there, but holy smokes is it amazing once you arrive.

This hotel is brand new, brand. spanking. new. The staff is extremely nice and friendly, welcomed us right in an we were all checked in in no time. Kitting out with absolutely beautiful decorations, honestly one of the best decorated Radisson Blu locations we've visited, the rooms are extremely comfortable and well decorated.

If you've never been to a Radisson Blu you've no doubt tried to steal the beds. Unfortunately we only had a small Chevy Volt so there was no chance, but when we woke up early Friday we had to absolutely pry ourselves out to make it to the Super Breakfast.

Radisson Blu hotels have become like US Embassy's to me - wherever I am in the world, even the middle of nowhere in Oman, I can always count on every single located to be extremely comfortable, have free hassle free internet and an amazing breakfast - and Sohar kept the trend going.

No one should drink three lattes when they wake up, but I couldn't help it and the only reason we didn't have a forth was the amazing pool calling our name. We escape Dubai to get away from the crowds and relax but we never could have imaged having an entire pool complex to ourselves. Thats right, not one, not two, but three pools all to ourselves for the day - including basketball, tennis, etc. We were enjoying ourselves so much we had to film something, our favorite weekend road trips from Dubai.

Anne couldn't help but enjoy an hour long massage in their brand new spa and I loved their extremely large gym, which felt more like a sports club than a hotel gym complete with locker room, steam room and sauna.

AmaranThai, their authentic Thai restaurant was honestly amazing. Not to sound like a jerk, but I've lived in Thailand a couple different times, so I know my Thai food, and they nailed it. Try the green curry, but make sure you're ready for the spice - its authentically spicy too! Make sure to check out their Arabic restaurant, sisha bar and rooftop lounge as well the Radisson Blu Sohar literally has it all - and all perfectly placed on a gorgeous strip of quiet beach in sunny Oman.

What more could you ask for on the perfect weekend away?
