Are These The World's Best Airports? You'll Hope You Miss Your Flight

Flying always seems to stress people out, even before they get to the airport. The thought of waiting in long lines, the misery of going through security and the general awful experience of hectic travel - but not so fast.

Once you see the world's best airports, you'll be hoping you miss your next flight, we promise.

From the small things like free wifi and showers to the more impressive like butterfly gardens and 5 star hotels, long gone are the days when traveling meant a miserable time no matter what. If you happen to be passing through any of the world's best airports, you'll be greeted with way more comfort and amenities than most hotels.

1. Changi Singapore (SIN)

It doesn't make sense to start this list out any other way than with Changi in Singapore. Consistently number on world's best airport, it has no only all the comforts you want in an airport, but a few that you cannot believe actually exist. Want to get lost in a butterfly garden in an airport? Changi is your place. How about the world's largest indoor slide? Done.

In addition to the absurd, there is an amazing 5 star hotel attached, a rooftop swimming pool, amazingly fast wifi and free candy placed around the terminals. From the grandiose to the little touches, Changi is always number one.

2. Dubai International (DXB)

How could we leave our home airport off the list? To be fair, DXB is constantly named in the list of world's best airports and it is no surprise. For a city so centered on progress, innovation and downright insane buildings, a top notch airport fits right in.

If you ask most expats in Dubai about the airport, most of them will only know the Emirates Airline terminal and would never think of flying any other airline, and while the Emirates terminal is noticeably better the whole airport is amazing - especially compared to the Sharjah Airport (this is a joke only for Dubai residents, but they'll know exactly what we mean, it's the different between driving your dream Ferrari and a donkey with a broken leg.)

3. Incheon Airport (ICN)

Year after year Asian airlines win best airline in the world awards, usually split between Singapore Airlines or Asiana so naturally their airports are among some of the best in the world as well. Incheon in Seoul, South Korea is easily one of the best. While it might be 70k outside of the actual city there is plenty to do. Interestingly enough, if you do have a few hours to spare, there are free Seoul city tours offered by the airport which will swiftly take you through security, into the city and back before you miss your flight.

If you don't have quite enough time to explore Seoul, or just want to relax, you'll be very happy. There are entire sections of the airport just for tired passengers with fully reclined lounge chairs and you can even get a pillow and blanket by handing over your boarding pass to the friendly staff. What's not to love!

4. London Heathrow (LHR)

Flying in or out of London and need to get a bit of extra shopping in? Most travelers would tell you not to miss a trip to Harrods while in London, the world famous department store, but if you somehow forget amidst all the fish and chips, worry not as Heathrow Terminal 3 has an 11,000 square foot location you can get lost in for hours.

5. Munich Airport (MUC)

Let's face it, there are some amazing airports in Europe, and it is not surprise either, but Munich might have to be our favorite, and for one simple reason. While most major European cities boast impressive airports, none have the Airbrau house like Munich does - an amazing paradise of some of the most delicious beers in Germany.

Need to calm those nerves before a long flight - nothing will do that like a good German lager or three - its an airport with a brewery inside for God's sake. Cheers!

6. Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK)

Just because Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi airport is last by no means it is lowest on our list. Having flown in and out of BKK more than any on this list (besides DXB) we still love it each time we get to enjoy a layover, and we promise it isn't just because we are relieved its not Don Muang (frequent Thailand travelers will understand this).

Few airports actually feel like shopping malls, they are becoming more and more common, but I think BKK takes the cake here. I've had many friends who intentionally fly out of BKK or when they know they have a flight out of BKK, will arrive many hours early just to shop, and I can't blame em!
